 Who The Heck is MentalMetal314 Anyway?

Here is a little about me. I started this hobby back in the early 90's. My first detector was a Whites 5900 DI. I found enough clad the first summer (around $400) to pay it off. Then I stopped detecting for various reasons but I never fully understood how to use the 5900 anyway which I really regret now. I can't image all the stuff I know I probably missed. Fortunately, I didn't give it up for good. Here I am 20+ years later and I've rediscovered the joy of the hobby once again and I have to thank to my wife for getting me back into it.

Back in 2013 and as ridiculous as it sounds, I was telling her one evening (after watching an episode of "Diggers") that I wanted one of the pin-pointers they were using because I thought they were amazing little tools and that was the first time I had ever seen or heard of them. Low and behold, a month later it was my birthday and what did I get? Yep I became a proud owner of a Garrett Pro-Pointer thanks to her. Then 2 weeks later I bought a Garrett AT Pro and used that machine extensively for 3 years. I found some amazing relics and coins with the AT Pro.

Fast forward to 2018 and I'm a proud owner of the XP Deus and the MI-6 pin-pointer. I absolutely love the machine but it took me a long time to love it. There tends to be a big learning curve with the XP but once you make the commitment to learn it, you won't regret it. I've owned the Deus for 2 years now. I love the versatility of the machine and the way you can adapt to any condition. If you are on Facebook you might run into me over on the XP Team USA group. I've been asked to be a member of their team to help promote and establish XP here in the states. I'm also the administrator of a Facebook group called Metal Detecting Maryland aka "MDM Diggers" we are always letting in people from all over so don't feel you have to be from Maryland to join. You don't! We are currently hovering around the 800 member mark so help us get to 1000 and join.

I usually record most of my adventures and post the videos on my YouTube channel. But as of late I'm also moving over to DTube for various reasons with YouTube. But for now I'll continue making videos and uploading them to both platforms.
