15" NEL AttacK Coil Vs. AT Pro Stock Coil

NEL 15" Attack Coil for the AT Pro

Is the NEL coil all its cracked up to be?

I've had a couple of folks ask me about the NEL Attack coil for the the AT Pro. I honestly have no clue whether this coil stands up to the stock coil that comes with AT Pro. I've been out the forums and read a lot of mixed reviews and I will admit that I'm not very fond of after mark equipment.
I'm a little jaded on after market stuff. I tried a different pin-pointer last year that was cheaper and claimed to be better than Garrett's Pro-Pointer. Well it wasn't and I had to return the thing after 3 months. Garrett replaced my Pro-Pointer for free and I didn't have to pay for the shipping. The other pin-pointer was fixed for free but I had to pay to ship it back blah blah... I digress...

Back to the coil comparison, I've watched several videos on this coil and honestly I'm torn. It pricey from about $230 depending on who is selling it. Some of the videos are compelling and I'll post links to them below and let you guys decide. It looks like you are going to get more coverage and 2"+ in depth. Is it worth the money? Here is one of my major concerns. Aren't these coils manufactured in the Ukraine? If so, isn't there a war going on over there? That kinda makes me a little concerned about the warranty if something goes wrong.

Anyway, if you have one of these coils I would love to hear about it. I've considered getting one because of the fields we hunt here in Maryland. Most of the relics below 8" are hard to hear in my neck of the woods. Here are the video links I mentioned. If anyone has one of these coils can you share thoughts on it?

  1. I seem to be in the same boat. I'm looking at the Nel Storm or Tornado for my AT Pro; add this vid to the list [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bfCrM9nWtUs&ebc=ANyPxKoG1gZfGrR5Au-x8S69wzEH_vxYni6d2aCz_1O8KOB-n10dzDLR_FqoevADWh8r-5aWAkk3jEzgBLFItN7AqUaHgZ5GMw ] . Also, Kurt's buddy Brad (an amazing Detectorist) uses a Fisher F-75 with Tornado with great results, swears by it. Okay Captain Scott, what be your heading?

    1. Well, I never pulled the trigger on the coil. I actually took a different direction and bought the XP Deus with the 11 inch coil since its gives me some additional flexibility going from site to site. In addition, my buddy had one of the Nel coils for his AT Pro and while he had success w/it he had a hard time pinpointing targets but the ground we were working that day had a lot iron in it. I'm sure the coils work well for many and I'm still intrigued. I've watched several videos on the experiences folk are having so I have no doubt that the coils are good. I just went a different direction all together. Thanks for commenting.

    2. Well that's weird ... I didn't know I was an "Unknown." Does this make me invisible as well?
